Natural Fruit Sorbets

Quick, easy, and refreshing dessert. Be adventurous, and try with other fruit as well.

Yield: 4-6 servings each

Strawberry Sorbet

Ingredients

  • 1 450g package frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup demerara sugar or 1/3 cup honey
  • Juice of half an orange
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice

Directions

  1. Place strawberries in a bowl. Add sugar or honey.
  2. Allow to sit until very syrupy, stirring every once in a while.
  3. Add juices.
  4. Follow instructions below.

Kiwi Sorbet

Ingredients

  • 8 nice-sized ripe kiwis
  • 1/3 to ½ cup demerara sugar or ¼ to 1/3 cup honey
  • ¾ cup water

Directions

  1. Cube or slice kiwis and place in a bowl. Add sugar or honey.
  2. Allow to sit until very syrupy, stirring every once in a while.
  3. Add water.
  4. Follow instructions below.

Directions for both sorbets:

  1. Freeze mixture in a 9x13 baking pan.
  2. When completely frozen, break apart and put in food processor. Process until ice cream consistency. (You may have to open processor and move pieces around with a knife or spoon several times.)
  3. Return to freezer until serving time. (If frozen for a while, thaw slightly in refrigerator or at room temperature before serving.)
